A funded STEM master’s in China can make sense. A full-fee English MA usually does not
China puts 71 universities in the QS top 1000. There is no open post-study work visa. Tsinghua is not a backup for a weak UK MSc.

Mainland China puts more ranked universities into the QS 1000 than Germany. That is a sampling fact, not a counselling instruction. The file we will defend is a CSC or university-funded STEM master’s or PhD at Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan or Shanghai Jiao Tong. The file we will not defend is a full-fee English-taught MA at a mid-rank provincial name sold as “cheaper than Canada”.
There is no Graduate Route. A job and a Z visa, or you leave. Mandarin is not optional for a career. The Great Firewall, ID checks, and geopolitics belong in the family meeting, not in a footnote.
What this means: scholarships make the rupee math exceptional. Their absence usually makes the whole thing a detour.
