Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the Maha Study Abroad portal collects, why, and how it is protected.
1. What we collect
- Public pages — no registration is needed to read guides. We keep standard, short-lived web-server logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security and capacity planning.
- Accounts — if you register: name, email, mobile number, date of birth, country of interest and guardian details you choose to provide.
- Applications — documents and details you submit when applying to a participating institution through the portal.
2. How it is used
Your data is used to operate your account, process the applications you initiate, send you transactional messages about those applications, and publish aggregated, anonymised mobility statistics. It is not sold, and it is not shared with education agents or marketers.
3. Who it is shared with
Application details are shared only with the institutions you apply to, and with service providers who operate the portal under contract with the Government of Maharashtra's implementation partner. Authorities may receive data where the law requires it.
4. Cookies and local storage
The public site stores only your language preference (English/Marathi) and text-size choice in your browser's local storage. The application portal uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party advertising trackers are used.
5. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on infrastructure operated for the Government of Maharashtra with access controls, rate limiting and security testing. No system is perfectly secure; report concerns to the contact below.
6. Retention and your rights
Account and application data is retained while your account is active and as required by government record-keeping rules. You may request a copy or correction of your data, or deletion of your account, by writing to student@mahacet.org.
7. Changes
Updates to this policy will be published on this page.
