After you graduate

Post-study work rights are the most important factor — and the most likely to change. Here is the position as of today.

Oman has no dedicated graduate job-search visa. To work after graduation, you must move to an employer-sponsored work residence, subject to Omanisation and labour-clearance requirements. Immigration rules and salary thresholds change frequently — verify them before you rely on them.

Immigration rules, eligibility and salary thresholds change frequently and without notice. Always verify the latest official guidance before you apply, and never treat any figure here as a guarantee of future entitlement.

Visa, work & money rules

The official rules behind your visa, work, family and budget planning — last audited 17 September 2026. Rules change often, so confirm each point on the official government or university website before you apply.

Student visa

Oman’s student visa is granted to a licensed educational institution, on its responsibility, for a foreigner coming to study. It must be used within 6 months of issue and allows a stay of 1–2 years from entry, renewable on the institution’s confirmation. It is a multi-entry visa. The government fee is OMR 30. Indian nationals must submit a medical certificate among the required documents.

Work while studying

A student visa does not give you the right to paid employment in Oman. Any work needs separate employer-sponsored labour authorisation, and Omanisation rules restrict foreign employment. Do not assume a weekly student-work allowance; confirm any permitted internship or training arrangement with your institution.

Family & dependants

International students generally cannot sponsor dependants on student status. Family sponsorship in Oman is tied to qualifying resident-employment conditions set by the Royal Oman Police.

Health insurance

A medical certificate is required for the student visa (including for Indian nationals), and you should hold health insurance as required by your institution or the authorities.
